A "Futurity"
is a show format that is set up to showcase Herdsires and their offspring.
The way it works is as follows - there is a pool or list of
"nominated" herdsires. Once a herdsire is nominated, any of that
male's offspring (that are in the proper age range at the time of the show) are
then eligible to compete. Generally, it costs the owner of the herdsire a
nomination fee to nominate their herdsire, and a fee to enter an eligible
animal into the show. These fees go into a pot, and the money is used as
cash prizes for the winners in the show.
At our Customer Appreciation Futurity, Magical Farms and Ameripaca each nominate
all of our herdsires so our customer's animals are eligible to compete for the
cash prizes (last year over $70,000 was awarded). In addition, if someone
purchases a male from either farm, that male is eligible to be nominated so the
offspring of that male can then compete as well. This is a show that
Magical Farms and Ameripaca organize to show our appreciation to our
customers... we thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at the show!
